Well, another Monday in the books.

I took Krl to the orthopedic doctor, he doesn't see patients after eleven. That must be nice. I was very against seeing the doctor who didn't come in to the emergency room even though he was on call, Trc was very adamant about her mother seeing a doctor her family has used and liked. I could have made some calls and pulled some strings and gotten in, but I made nice and gave Krl the telephone book and told her to call whoever she wanted to.

When we were leaving the house I asked her where we were going and she told me the on call doctor's. I told her for his sake I hoped he didn't change the opinion of the ER doctor Saturday evening.

The doctor looked at paper copies of the x-rays, it almost seemed as though he was looking at them for the first time. Finally he told Krl he thought the swelling was down enough to get her in a hard cast. We moved into the cast room and Krl had to decide if she wanted a short cast just below the knee or if she wanted a tall cast that went above the knee. The short one would allow more mobility, the tall one would offer more stability. The doctor had no preference. She chose the short one. Then they wanted to know what color. Red, Blue, yellow, purple, pink, black? She chose black before I questioned her choice. Her reasoning was, "Black goes with more!" (I thought that's just like a woman!) I told her to get the hot pink and maybe the hounds and everyone would see it and not hit it. She agreed. The real surprising thing was this doctor's office was a three person show. The receptionist, a nurse, and the doctor. My experience with other orthopedic doctors had always been that they had PA's who did the casts. Not at this office. The doctor came in, put the cast on, got down on his knees and cleaned and dried the floor. You won't see a whole lot of doctors do that. We are scheduled in next Monday for a follow up. Prognosis is the hard cast for six to eight weeks with no weight bearing. After that I bet we get "the boot" for at least four to six weeks more. We'll see.

By the time we got home Krl was hurting pretty bad. The doctor had warned her that riding in a vehicle and sitting with her leg dangling would increase swelling and to go home and get it elevated. She had a miserable afternoon.

Once we were settled in, I changed my clothes and was doing some laundry. I decided to get a skillet out to begin browning some ground beef and onions for the enchiladas. As I was digging through the pots and pans the door bell rang and when I opened the door Pat and Hag were standing there with two boxes. One was filled with food for supper, the other contained books! Yea! I thought that was really sweet and thoughtful of them. Best of all, it slid my homemade beef enchiladas another night. They visited briefly and Hag wanted a sharpie to sign Krl's cast and Pat followed suit. They had to run and left just before the laundry folding party began! Later in the day Krl and I feasted on homemade stew, cornbread and a yummy cake! Thank you Pat and Hag!

Last night we made a change. For the first time in three nights Krl slept in bed. We swapped sides and I took up all the area rugs so she could roll about in her office chair. I think she slept really well. I did. I was very shocked to wake up this morning to find that she had gotten up and rolled to the bathroom and back during the night, it didn't even wake me! The houndgirls seem to be most unbalanced about the side of the bed switch. They like things like they are supposed to be. The two pups had a hard time getting settled and "Black" slept with one eye open so if I got up I wouldn't step on her. Surprisingly, for the first time since her accident Krl is still asleep.

While I was busy yesterday Krl got on the phone and cancelled her dentist appointment. I disagreed with this because we have waited but they are her teeth and she is the one who knows how she feels.

I hadn't called any of the kids but Trc to tell them of Krl's accident. Memama called Rian and late yesterday the phone rang and it was Reidman. I talked briefly and then gave the phone to Krl. She doesn't get to talk with him very often so that was good medicine. When they were through Rian and I talked. Holt is finally walking. It's about time. Thirteen months, the little lazy fart! Rian said he has to be really steady and he must be wanting something really bad before he will cut loose, then it is for nine or ten steps, then crash! Reid is tickled. He says when his brother grows up, his brother will chase him. They had been at church where a group of older men have formed an oldies band. Rian said Reid loves instruments. His favorites are the drums, but he also like the "biolin". It is all pretty interesting but it must not be much of a band because they don't have a "pickle"!

Tomorrow is Valentines Day. You have been warned, if you get in trouble it is your own fault. Many years ago, my kiddo's mother was working in a flower shop and they asked if I would help out with deliveries. That ended up being one of the most fun things I have ever done!

I had a conversation about an exchange between Rosie O'Donnel and an evening news magazine host during a segment on the show Rosie participates on. I'm not going to say who my conversation was with. They were telling me that Rosie asked this guest if in his opinion he felt "W" should be impeached. The guest dodged and fidgeted and finally told Rosie that she made it hard on her guests. She told the guest "If you don't answer, we will all know your answer". The guest continued to bob and weave and finally Rosie told him Congress attempted to impeach a President who did what hundreds, possibly thousands of American males do everyday. Infidelity. Which in this guests eyes was more wrong, the transgressions of the former President or the current President sending American forces into a war because of what has been revealed to be very "suspect" intelligence resulting in the deaths of over three thousand young American soldiers. Bawbawa Wawaw brought this exchange to a close and when they returned from a break there was new subject matter. I like Rosie and the hard questions she asks.

I told this person I was talking to that anytime I see a car with a "W 04" sticker on the bumper or window, I either try to get beside them to see if they are wearing a rubber nose and a wig or else I will follow them to see if they are wearing huge clown shoes.

I may create a second job. I'll run an ad in the American Classifieds, "Stop getting flipped off, let me remove your "W 04" sticker for a nominal fee!"

If I had one I'd pay to get it gone.

I was glad to see the "Dixie Chicks" making a comeback, without CMR. I don't know what made country music decide they were judge and jury. The Chicks should be entitled to their own opinion. In fact, the statement that created the uproar is one that I find myself aligned with more and more each day.

I am uneasy with some of the revelations of the "Scooter" Libby trial about the inner working of the White House and how manipulative things are and in this instance at the direction of the Vice-President. You know any underlings aren't going to question him for fear that he would shoot them! Everyday, decisions are made on what you and I need to know. Duh! Have these people forgotten they work for us?

I've always said anyone who runs for public office has a big ego.

I'd better quit here or I might vent forever.

By the way, I signed Krl's cast too. I signed it on the sole of her foot, symbolic of my always being underfoot. Funny thing is she can't read what I wrote. That'll drive her mad!

Have a day!

FATHER, help us to remember it's not about us. It's all about YOU.
