This is going to be difficult.

I realize that yesterday I had to do some of the things I normally do on Saturday, but I'm going to have to be really organized and use my time wisely.

Krl has moved to the couch. I don't know how permanent this is, but so far it has proven to be functional. She is easily monitored except when I am in bed. I'm going to say it just to get it out, but she is not a good patient. She gets frustrated with not being able to do for herself, then she begins to gripe. When she hurts it is even worse. And that is understandable. Now in all fairness I will tell you I am not the best nurse. (That would be my sister.) I kind of putter around doing what needs to be done. Krl doesn't appreciate my sense of humor either. Yesterday morning we had gotten her day going and I went into the kitchen and worked for about a half hour, when I emerged I told Krl that I had caught up all of her stuff that she was two or three days behind on when she broke her leg! Yikes! This is a tough audience.

I told her that there is a new sheriff in town, and that's me! Heh, during my down time I may make me a badge out of aluminum foil! It may have to just have three points so I can save time.

Now before you call spousal services I will tell you that a lot of this is just in fun. If I didn't laugh I might cry. Some things just aren't normally on my horizon. Normally Krl feeds and waters the pups, my contribution is going to Petsmart and getting the Purina One. We do a pretty good job splitting or helping with the cooking, so that isn't an adjustment. Grocery shopping has always been mine. If clean laundry is available for folding, I have never minded helping, but Krl has done nearly all the laundering. Like I said this is going to be more difficult than I thought.

I may have to quit my job.

After I got Krl settled late Sunday morning, she assured me she was fine while I went out to run errands. Petsmart, check. Grocery store, check. And one last stop was Grandy's. Krl had been wanting Grandy's so I treated her. I got home, brought all the groceries in through the garage and then came through the front door with the Grandy's bag. After I put the groceries up I got Krl a tray and served her lunch. I had discovered one item had been omitted from my grocery list so I made a quick dash while she was occupied. When I returned she was through, she didn't eat enough for a bird. I may have to give her that talk about needing to eat so she will "get well and be strong".

I took a break and watched Daytona qualifying. Maple was doctoring on Krl and Phooey was sitting with me. The big houndgirls just keep looking at their Mama wondering what is going on. Krl had been complaining about she wished she had washed her hair Saturday before we started our endurance event at the doctors. A while later I went into the kitchen and cleared the counter, put down a towel with another towel rolled up to go under her neck. I went to her bathroom and got her shampoo and conditioner, got her up and into the office chair and rolled her into the kitchen. She just wanted to die. I coaxed her into agreeing and she finally stood on her good leg and I rotated her and lifted her where she was sitting on the counter. Then while I supported her legs, I turned her where she could lie down. I had already run the water so it would be warm, and I gave her one of those shampoos you only dream about! I didn't even aggravate her by flipping the disposal on (even though I did think about it). When we were done conditioning, I squeegeed her hair and sat her up, got the rolled up towel and proceeded to dry her head and massage her scalp. We even played "Where's KRL"! Little did she know it, but I had been in the attic and gotten our shower chair down. It was sitting in her tub waiting. She had a brief reprieve during which she brushed her hair out. Then I commenced to roll her towards her bathroom. The plan was to sit her on the shower chair with her splinted leg over the side of the tub, supported by the office chair and she would be able to take a sponge bath. It was a pretty good plan. I had drawn the water, so immediately we began to play "skin the rabbit" and get her into the tub. I gave her a few minutes and when I returned she was already out, in her chair and trying to get dressed. She was a much happier camper when I returned her to the couch.

I re-wrapped Krl's knee and her splinted leg. I guess some of the swelling had gone down because the wraps were extremely loose and she had complained that her broken leg was popping. It is a delicate balance, the tension on the elastic wraps, I didn't want to cut off circulation and yet she was constantly telling me "tighter". I was trying for a happy medium.

When supper time came I got a reprieve, she said she would make another attempt on her Grandy's meal. That moved my homemade enchiladas to tomorrow.

I'm looking at our itinerary. Doctor Monday. Dentist Tuesday. Maple Syrple came up short, she had a Monday doctor's appointment but I deemed her healthy.

We are hoping for a hard cast for Krl. It will be interesting to see what the orthopedic doctor says. If the assessment is different from the one made Saturday (no surgery) there may be a butt whipping. Pat has been trying to give me the health care professional's outlook on patients. She gets frustrated because I tell her this doctor wasn't professional or he would have come in or referred us to a more dedicated doctor. I'm sure there are many health care professionals who are very dedicated to helping people but I have known a few who were in it just for the money.

The Tuesday dental appointment is for a root canal for Krl. When it rains it pours.

Ah yes, but when the sun come out ...........

I should get up from this keyboard and start my day, but I may coast for a while longer.

I've had the television tuned to ESPN. They have had a re-broadcast of a Spurs-Heat game. I am trying to decide where the sport is when you are seven foot tall and can grab the rim. I think they need to go to a graduated point system. A dunk might be worth a half point, anything inside eight feet might be worth 1 point, eight feet to sixteen feet 2 points, sixteen to twenty-four feet would be worth 3 points and over twenty four feet would be worth four.

Chop those big boys down to size.

Well I had to gripe about something. You've come to expect it!

Pray for Krl, her care provider is suspect!

Have a day!

FATHER, I need some help here!
