How 'bout them Colts?
Horrible weather, but then both teams had to play in it. This game won't go down in the books as one of the better games. It was pretty sloppily played. Interceptions, fumbles, botched snaps, missed field goal. Yep, it had it all.
High note was, the Abilene contingent did well.
Most impressive thing for me was how humble Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning were in victory. Totally a class act.
I am not too sure about the MVP. I was trying to decide who I would vote for. I couldn't make up my mind.
I did hear that the MVP and Colt's victory could be worth $30 million in endorsements for Peyton. That would put him into second spot behind Tiger in endorsement income. (Tiger's figure is rumored to be $80 million+ per year).
I think I most enjoyed all the side stories associated with this year's game. It seemed all the participants were human. Tony talked of his loss fourteen months ago when his son committed suicide. He talked of enjoying seeing Lovie's Mom. (Dungy's parents died I believe in '01 and '04). I enjoyed the perspective that Archie Manning gave to the Super Bowl through a player's eyes who never made it to the big game but was living it through his son's experience. I liked all the family stories about Peyton growing up (we can expect him to be on Dancing with the Stars at a later date, that was a funny video from Peyton's dance recital).
Yep, the game was not the best story.
I think CBS did a top notch job presenting the game. They pulled out all the stops. I think anyone who works for CBS who is anyone was there. Katie, Harry, Hanna, Julie, Dave. If I could have changed anything I would like to have substituted Troy Aikman for Phil Simms in the game broadcast. But that will have to wait until that network has the broadcast.
After the halftime show I'm still not a Prince fan. Pepsi spent a lot of money for nothing as far as I was concerned, pass the Diet Coke please! Apparently Pepsi doesn't have a lot of taste in their selection process. I'm sure the network breathed a sigh of relief that Prince only ripped off his "do-rag".
I had watched the Saturday CBS Early Show and enjoyed the chef on a shoestring segment. $80 to do a Super Bowl party for eight. The guest chef was Michelle from Michy's. She did the party for seventy bucks. I guess she got to pocket the change. But it did get me thinking about what Krl and I might do for watching the game.
I didn't do any of the dishes that Michelle did. Nope, not even the jalapeno lime butter popcorn. Instead I went the easy route.
The GM at the seasonal jobsite had given us a cooked brisket and we had frozen part of it, so I got it out Saturday to thaw. I went to the grocery store and bought potato salad, some fiesta dip, pickles, pintos beans with jalapenos, some Texas toast bread, and an impulse buy was a rack of pre-cooked smokehouse pork ribs! Yum! I slipped the brisket and ribs into respective pyrex dishes, doctored them with a little sauce, covered them with foil and set the temperature for warming.
I figure it would take three more games for us to finish the food but hey, we have lunch for the week.
My favorite ads were the auctioneer wedding, and the mouse. I loved the "Do I hear an I do, I do?", and I loved the "click it" and "drag it" with the mouse and then "No wonder it won't work, you've got to plug it in!" I'd probably have to give an honorable mention to the "Snicker's kiss". "Do something manly!"
No more football! (I don't count the pro-bowl).
Two weeks to Daytona! Once again they are running the race to celebrate my birthday! Thanks guys!
I like what I am hearing with the 2008 Presidential contenders. Health care. John Edwards is supposed to unveil his plan today. Personally I think it is middle America that is without health care. Top has their own and bottom has government programs. Bring it on!
I'm reading a book and ran across an interesting little observation.
"If you find yourself going in circles, it could be because you're cutting corners."
And with that I'll bid you "have a day".
FATHER, speak to me.
