Seventy-six years ago today Homer and Gertrude McLeod had a baby girl. Twelve pounds worth. I'm surprised they didn't name her butterball! She was half grown when she arrived!
Happy Birthday Mom!
My patient is getting better. I can tell because nothing suits her. She is trying to figure out an activity that she can do that will occupy her time. She was telling me that she needs some sort of busy work. She thought of sewing, but doesn't know if she could maneuver to cut out material. She does have a sewing machine that is a year old that has never been out of the case. In fact, I think she has three. One of them is a high powered machine her mother had. Then she thought about putting together costume jewelry. She had a friend who did this as a hobby and it ended up as a sideline business. Her friend would take her creations to the bowling alley and sell them on league nights. I was kidding and asked Krl who would take her products to the bowling alley and she got really mad!
I told you she was getting better!
Several nights ago, I guess I pushed one of the pillows into the headboard of my bed. We have a large display alarm clock that sits there and it turned over toward the mirror located on the back wall. Being triangular in shape, it is stable. I don't think about setting it back up because the only time I look at the time is during the night. Now I am developing the ability to read upside down and backwards. A 7 looks like a backwards L, a 4 looks like a lower case backward h, 2's look like 5's and vice versa. 6's and 9's look like g's upright and inverted. 1's, 3's, and 8's remain basically constant. It has been kind of a game learning a new language. It is a lot like when they introduced new math years ago.
I know, I'm weird.
I was not surprised that the CIA leak trial came back with a guilty verdict for Scooter Libby. I am sad for him because I think he is a scapegoat for the current administration. I think it is odd that the person who was originally leaked the CIA agents identity has never been charged. I was particularly bothered by an article about how manipulative and selective the White House has been with the press. It is hard to believe that all this goes back to an administration that was unhappy with a critic of the administration's reasons for going to war in Iraq. When "W" (dumbya) took office, he promised a thorough cleaning and scrubbing of his administration. I doubt he thought the public would ever know how high up the problems went. There have been calls for Cheney's resignation and there is already speculation that "W" will probably consider pardoning any casualties of this situation. Very similar to what "W's" father did with the arms sales to Iran scandal of the Reagan administration.
Friends in high places.
I don't think we have ever had a President and his staff that has so blatantly considered themselves to be above the law. It seems that they have forgotten how and why they have been entrusted with the office they hold, whether elected or appointed. The dog wags the tail, not the other way around.
I saw a segment the other day about what "W" wants his legacy to be. I figured he was too old to be having wet dreams. It should tell him something when SMU didn't want his Presidential Library.
I sat and watched Man of the Year with Krl. She had never finished it, it was my second time to see it. Tom Dobbs sure had a point when he said if you accept and spend 200 million dollars for a campaign, somewhere down the line you owe somebody something!
"W" should see if the University of Baghdad will accept his Presidential Library.
And that concludes our commentary for today. Put the soap box away!
Have a day!
FATHER, I'm not in a good place right now. I ask you to see me through.
