Yuk.

Krl and I both feel sub-par. She has a cough, we both are pained with sinus headaches. I'm not a very good patient. I try to stay on a tylenol cycle to keep my fever down, but the transition from horizontal to vertical has been a little tough this morning. I have blown my nose so much I could have been a one man symphony! I have no idea where that much drainage can come from. It's a lot like the theatre trick with a jillion people getting out of a car. Surely my head would have to outsource for this infinite supply!

In addition, Krl has a tooth that is bothering her. Bless her heart, she can't catch a break. She is very diligent in her dental hygiene, always has been. She does all the things you are supposed to do and her diet has or does include supplements for healthy bones and teeth. Over the years her teeth have seemed to morph toward chalk. I have no idea how many times she has chipped or broken a tooth. Add to this, some shoddy work by a dentist years ago, another dentist a couple of years ago who was paid but didn't complete his work. Her last dentist wanted to begin work on a long range plan (it would have to be a long plan because his estimate was $10K). Roy, one of our seasonal co-workers told Krl we need to visit him and he would take us to his dentist in Mexico and get her fixed up. $500.00.

I spent part of my day, actually most of my day, trying to move a program from an old computer to one I have been using for almost a year. For the life of me, I can't figure out why it isn't happening. I can send it to disk and all appearances are that it has transferred, but when I open the program on the newer computer it won't. It is really getting frustrating. I even called the number for a guy who used to do network support at my last gig and that number is no longer a working number. I figure if I have to key in all the data it would take me four or five days as it is worker's tax payer information, addresses and such for the last few years. Since many of the workers are repetitive, it sure is easy to just change their earnings info.

Krl is wanting to go to a program that is all inclusive. Payroll, billing, payables, check writing, w-2's, and all the reporting. I would love to, but I would recommend waiting until the company can afford to buy what fits rather than try to use a generic and fit the company to it. The strongest argument would be to go to computer checks. That would eliminate a number of duplicate tasks, and lots of time. Lots of what we use are excel spreads that are linked. When it came to technology, MD was a tight wad.

The one company truck is still in the shop. I am beginning to boil under the surface. It is ready to go except the service manager is wanting to get a reading before he releases it because he is going to have to stand behind his work if there is a problem. His machine is still down, and the service technician hasn't made it in two days. Twenty-three days and counting. Everything they were supposed to do should have taken less than a day!

I had mail yesterday, one item which was from a local car dealer, telling me I had been pre-approved for a $35,000 new car loan. While I was flattered, I don't need or want a new vehicle. My little twelve year old pickup does just fine, and I like the payment. Sorry about that Ford, I'd like to help out but you're on your own.

Another piece of mail was for a pre-approved credit card. Thanks, but no thanks. Been there done that.

I guess I am growing up. Some of life's lessons have to be lived to be learned.

FATHER, thank YOU for allowing us second chances.
