Krl's day was a day worth remembering!
Lunch was as billed, good food and good company. Our waiter went off duty shortly after we got there but his replacement was excellent. It was a very laid back, leisurely lunch.
When we returned home there was a huge Boston fern sitting in the entry way. It was from Memama and Pepa. It is gorgeous.
Krl left to pick up some potting soil, miracle grow, and a few other odds and ends. She has been really in the mood to garden. She began a project that went well into the night. When we were at the old established nursery Tuesday, she was looking at two huge airplane plants. They were marked at $49.95. A woman walked by and told Krl "If you want one of those I can let you have it for $15". In minutes it was in the back of the truck. Tuesday afternoon when we had unloaded plants Krl's first priority was simply to get the plants sorted and watered. The work began Wednesday. I would estimate Krl's big airplane plant weighed 85 or 90 pounds. The basket it was in was not the standard wire basket, rather one constructed of chain and welded metal. When I would lift it, it took both hands and I would have to step through the foliage because it dragged on the ground. This plant had become root bound and Krl began splitting and transplanting, first all the "babies" sprouting about and finally the main body. "Deal or No Deal" was reason for a break but afterwards, Krl was back at work. At 11pm., she came through the house, going to open the gate (her technique requires her to be on the outside of the big gate). When she realized how late it was she began to wind up her work. This morning the back porch and back yard are very plush. It looks much like Krl's porch of old, even if the house sitter killed all her plants this past winter!
We are having a war of wills here at the house. Maple Syrple seems defiant in taking a route through the shrubs and flower beds into the back yard. I hate to be the one to tell her but Krl
"will" win.
The evening story was weather in the Big Country. Even before storms began building in the Northwest part of the Big Country, the hounds were acting as though weather was in the works. When I found Black dog she was in the center of our bed waiting to be surround by sacrificial bodies. (And this was hours before anyone thought of going to bed). Prissy and Maple were glued to either Krl or me. You couldn't go to the pantry, the trash can or the bathroom without an entourage. This continued well after we went to bed. I tossed and turned, listened to the storms as they rolled through and on one trip to get a drink and stop in the bathroom, Prissy was there, step for step. Finally she decided she would rather sleep in the bathroom right next to the tub. I almost expected her to ask me to move her bed and blanket in there!
This morning I am stiff and somewhat contorted. Black and Maple were holding down the majority of the bed and Krl and I were simply guests in their domain. I probably would have slept better by the tub with Prissy. Why is it the two smallest bodies require the biggest spaces.
Today is the National Day of Prayer. Shouldn't every day be?
Be the real deal!
FATHER, bless-ed be YOUR name, there is none other than YOU.
