I'm going to have to ask for a do over for Monday.

I had my day scripted. Not that it mattered. Nothing was pressing, just some of those necessary to do's. I was out running errands, paying some bills when my phone rang and it was Pepa. He and Memama were coming to Abilene to pick up Ostrich feed. Last week Krl and I had gone to Roscoe to get the last company truck and we ran by and reminded them that the next time they were in Abilene with a trailer to come by and pick up a refrigerator that we had in our garage. Pepa decided Monday was the day and they were bringing a trailer. I called Krl to give her a heads-up and also to check and see if the fridge was clean. Trc and her people had moved it and I wondered if they left it open to air and dry out for an adequate time after they had disconnected it. When I arrived back at the house, Krl was wrestling with stuff in the garage trying to get the fridge where she could clean. It seemed as though just last week I had moved all the same things to put the company SUV in the other side of the garage. I quickly moved the fridge out and into the driveway and Krl went to work cleaning.

I walked into the house and guess what? Nascar. The weather postponed Talledega race was just fixing to begin. Decisions, decisions.

Memama and Pepa arrived and Krl was through cleaning, she was just letting some of the bins and drawers dry. Pepa had brought a dollie and we secured the fridge on the dollie and proceeded to load it up. We got to visit a little. We had not talked since last Thursday when Krl and I made our brief stop by their house. I guess I am a trusting soul. I watched all the weather reporting, the Doppler, the W.O.W. Doppler, and according to the reports, Roscoe was getting pounded with rain, wind and hail last Friday. Turns out one of the reasons Pepa was in a hurry was because he wanted to get back on a tractor incorporating chemicals and laying off rows. The reporting was for a very small area and Pepa and crew had not missed a beat due to weather. I think Randy Turner is a good weatherman. I think all of his equipment and trinkets have a use. I think they need to use some better judgment before they begin predicting gloom and doom, superseding programming, giving minute by minute progressions. Sometimes I think it is all about ratings and the fear of being scooped by someone else.

Krl and I continue to do our own thing when it weathers (much to the houndgirls dismay). We will try to batten down the hatches, put up vehicles and such, but we figure if it's your time, it's your time, regardless of what you do.

After I was exposed to Nascar, I felt obligated to watch it. I guess I felt their viewer numbers might be down being it was a Monday. Turns out it wasn't a bad move. UPS delivered the company computer that Krl had ordered for the Neat Receipts scanner. This is probably the most bare basics computer she has ever ordered. I know that in the past I never ordered one similar to this. The reasoning is that this is going to be a dedicated unit. Scanner only. It does have some basics that will make it more versatile later in it's life if it is moved on. We are also trying a USB memory key for storage. That is the only drawback so far. They back ordered the memory key. (For that matter they back ordered the old lap top battery too). They've got their money, we just don't have all the goods. One should ship today, the other is supposed to ship Thursday. We will see.

Have you ever wondered what kind of impression you leave on others? How memorable are you? For what reasons are you memorable? Are you rude? Crude? Kind? Accommodating?

I have mentioned before how Krl says I am the kiss of death when it comes to picking a checkout line at the grocery store or a lane at the bank. At the register you can plan on multiple price checks, damaged goods and the like. At the bank I am always behind the person who is rolling pennies at the drive through! I also seem to get the clerk or teller who is in training. I get the new sackers, or baggers, a person who understands the general concept, they just don't understand the order. Use to I would go toe to toe with these people, but lately I have decided it is just not worth it. My new motto is "kill 'em with kindness!"

And with that I announce my candidacy for Miss Congeniality. Being memorable for the right reasons.

Be the real deal.

FATHER, this day is YOURS.
