Tremendous day yesterday, productivity wise! I was able to get lots done and it should reflect on a more laid back Sunday. Today is not a maintenance Sunday but we might make a quick trip to the city anyway! It would appear that everything is in place that would allow us to relax for a brief while.
We went to the local community center yesterday for the County Livestock Show and Premium Auction. It was more of a hob-knob trip. The food was so so and the auction was like watching paint dry.
Actually the most entertaining part of the trip to the livestock show was watching the kids. From toddlers to High Schoolers, there were a ton of kids there. The thing that made this more interesting was Mike Cope's recent blog about teenage breast implants. The environment out here is so protected. Kind of like stepping back in time. The competition for this weekend was not about personal appearance but with animals they had raised and prepared to show. These kids are more like brothers and sisters than friends. Maybe this is a key, to develop bonds and extended family that becomes "the" peer group, "the" trend setters, that we develop leaders instead of followers. I know from our oldest granddaughter that today it is a constant battle to fit in. You can voice negative comments about clothes and styles and her response is "everyone is wearing it". Reminds me of growing up and telling my mom "everyone is doing it" and her asking "if they all jumped off a bridge would you jump too"! Oh what a tangled web we weave.
FATHER, thank YOU for the blessed day yesterday. I thank YOU for allowing me to get things done. FATHER I would ask that YOU instill in us YOUR goodness, YOUR will and that we will let JESUS be our peer group. Help us to show this to our children and grandchildren, and to all we come in contact with. I pray for those in need of YOUR healing. I pray for those needing YOUR presence. Bind us together, LORD!
