Well, it is almost like watching paint dry.  The final bathroom is moving very slow, but I am optimistic that all the tile and all the grout will be in place by days end.

The painter has been here two days and benn taping and bedding and floating muc.  He lacks one more coat and then we will be ready to texture the walls and ceiling.  There isn 't a whole lot of area in that bathroom for paint because the shower is tiled all the way to and including the ceiling.

I am hopeful that by mid week, we will be done.  Paint, sealer and all.  Then we will direct our attention to the ceilings in the kitchen and my bedroom.

I am so ready to get my room in order and do away with all the plastic bags!

We got six tenths of an inch of rain at the farm shop last night.  I have heard reports of an inch and a half in town.  The clouds were moving southeast, two different cells, then began to travel south west.  Very violent storms, wind reports to 100mph and hail as large as softballs.  Luckily we didn't experience any of that here..

Soo, the farming is on hold for today.

Have a day and a weekend!

FATHER, thank YOU for your rain blessing.  We  ask for more.  We lift up all of those suffering from loss from the storms, bless them and the cleanup efforts.

Bathroom #3

Thursday, May 16, 2013

Happy Birthday Freddy!

He would have been 62 today.

Along the same line, last night I could almost swear hearing Pepa come in.

Weird.

Well, lets see where to start.

The final bathroom is showing some progress.  The shower is in place and the dressing area is tiled.
This bathroom is stretching us some because we are using the Kerdi shower system and instead of tile we are using cut stone.

The Kerdi system is a relatively new system where a membrane seals the walls and floors.  Also shower pan is preformed out of Styrofoam and accessories like the curb and bench are also Styrofoam.

The funniest thing about putting the membrane on the walls and floors is that it is a bright orange.  Allen, the contractor, was wearing his maroon Aggie t-shirt yesterday, so he complained all day!

I am thinking that we should be a ways down the road tiling by late today.

I am trying for a rustic or Texas look for this bathroom.  So far I am very pleased.  Allen was needling me yesterday about it sure looked like I scrimped on the first two bathrooms to go all out on mine.  Lol!  Slats can kind of see where we are going and he says this bathroom will be the the show room of the three.

We had lots of storms late yesterday and last night, but we didn't get any appreciable moisture here at the house.  Points East got rain and further East, they had tornadoes.  In the Granbury area they have six dead and numerous injuries.

INcounters came yesterday to install Memama's counter top.  It seems Mason, the salesman, messed up again.  This vanity top was a quarter inch short.  Thankfully he measured it himself, but this is the second top they have sent here that wasn't right.

Well, have a day!

FATHER, we continue to ask for YOUR rain blessing.  We ask YOUR blessings for those near Granbury who were in harms way..

It has been very busy.  The bathroom remodel continues.  We are now on the third and final one.  However, neither of the first two are finished.  Lots of little details to do.  I can understand the reluctance to take time to do them because it is much more rewarding to see big massive strides toward the project.  But somewhere down the road, it is going to be concentrated "little things" all day long.

Last week I had talked with Allen, our contractor, about finishing the first two bathrooms, at least the first one.  I guess my words fell on deaf ears because it hasn't happened.

Wednesday past, Incounters was supposed to be here to install Memama's counter top.  Then they slid it to Thursday, then to Friday.  The girl confirming install appointments told me she never called me to officially confirm, even though I had been in and she had confirmed in person.  As it turns out, they showed up late Friday and when I showed them the vanity, they had a puzzled look on their faces.  They told me there was a mistake somewhere.  I asked to see the vanity top and sure enough, they had cut the top for my bathroom in Memama's color.  Crazy thing is I haven't even called to tell them we are ready for mine because the vanity is still in Abilene.

So I have been on the phone Saturday, and Monday and Tuesday because they assured me it would be cut yesterday and on the truck today for install.  So far today, no return call.

My bathroom is going to be a little different.  I am using cut stone instead of tile, and probably 90% of the tile are 1 x 2 inches on a 12 inch mat.  We are also using a kerdi shower system that comes with pan, drain, curb and seat all made out of styrofoam and then covered with the Kerdi seal material.  This will be the first one Allen has ever done, but if it is anything like on paper it will be the berries!

I am going for a rustic look in my bath and in my mind it looks awesome.

We had a big Mother's Day here at Memama's.  We had been talking and earlier in the week Rian volunteered to bring his pit and cook brisket and sausage.  This eventually evolved and while he came down he did not bring his pit.  We ended up cooking ribeyes and sausage on my $10 charcoal pit, and did bakes in the oven and beans in the microwave and Linda fixed a cake.

I would like to say the guys did it all, but Pat and Linda did help1  Lol.

It was a great meal that had flashbacks to many Saturday nights passed.

In addition I gave a rose to all the Mothers in attendance.

Happy Mother's Day all!

This past Wednesday Georgiana's childhood friend from New York flew in.  I think they have known each other most of their lives and remain very close.  I drove over to meet Paulette on Wednesday, and then Friday I attended the Abilene Community Theatre for their production of God's Favorite.  Saturday it was to the Western Heritage Chuck Wagon Cook off for lunch and then we wandered through the exhibits, even watching a horse training session and the old time fiddlers competition.  The two women went to see the Budweiser Clydesdales in their stalls.  After an short break we returned for the Ranch Rodeo.

Sunday they had company coming in and I returned to Roscoe since Rian was here and to put together Sunday lunch.

On Monday Georgiana and Paulette drove over and we toured the area taking pictures of Paulette at the wind farm and with a pump jack.  We finished the tour at the farm shop.

After returning to Memama's home, they visited briefly and hit the road headed back to Abilene.

When the guys quit working in my bathroom, Allen had somethings he needed from Abilene.  In was sitting there and about 7:30 I got in the pickup and headed East.  I picked up three items and returned to Roscoe about 9:20.

This morning at 5:30 Allen texted me with an addition to his wish list.  So sorry Charlie.  You snooze you lose!

As I said, its been busy.

Have a day!

FATHER, bless us in our efforts.  We thank YOU for the rain blessing and ask YOU for more.  Bless all the Mothers.

I have a little jet lag this morning.

We just returned from Kirby and Andrea's wedding in Lingleville.  We left Friday and returned late yesterday.

It was a fun weekend.  The wedding venue was at Bella Vita Ranch just outside of Lingleville and it is a gorgeous, gorgeous place.

I had Memama there Friday for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.  We stayed at one of Memama's favorite hotels in Stephenville, the La Quinta.  We always have to wake her there, she rests so well.

As for the wedding the bride was gorgeous, the groom was handsome, and it had to be one of the best coordinated weddings I have ever seen.  It was almost like clock work.  The wedding took place outside on the bent grass with the guests seated in white chairs while the ceremony took place under an arbor on the steps of the patio of the large building.  Cocktail tables lined the perimeter, with beverages available.  Dallas Huston, the voice of the Brownwood Lions, officiated.

I would guess,  start to finish the ceremony didn't last twenty minutes.  Hors de oeuvres were served while pictures were taken.  Then things moved inside where the couple had their first dance, followed by the brides dance with her Dad and the grooms dance with his Mom.

Then the meal was served, followed by dancing and fellowship.  I will say the most dancing was done by the nieces of the groom and his cousins (who were dancing with the little girls).  It was a lot of fun.

The newly weds left in the groom's brother's Rubicon, zans the top and doors!

On our way out of town Sunday we stopped by the wedding venue and assisted in taking down chairs and stacking them along with readying rental equipment to be picked up, emptying fruit and flowers from vases, gathering table clothes and napkins and loading specialty items built specifically for the wedding..

Congratulations Kirby and Andrea!

FATHER than YOU for a good weekend with family and friends.  Thank YOU for safe travel.  YOU are good.
