I made myself stay in bed this morning. As per usual, a little before four, I rolled over and looked at the clock. Maple Syrple jumped down, ready for me to grab my glasses and exit the bedroom. She was disappointed when I laid back down.
Worst part was, the activity made Prissy want to get up. She began her trademark "grrbark", then the two little pups got in to it in a scramble for better sleeping spots.
It was fitful from then until I finally got up at a little past seven.
Last evening, I watched the NCAA men's basketball tournament. I knew I wouldn't be happy with the outcome because two teams I like were competing against each other. But, I did much better with my picks last night than Thursday. So for now, I am six of eight in the second chance "pick 'em".
I looked and there are a large number who are perfect at 8 of 8. My rank is 29,000 something.
I expect Louisville to take it all, but man did Oklahoma look good. I picked the Sooners to exit Sunday courtesy of NC.
ET, one of my drivers, really hustled down in Laredo yesterday. He ended up finding us two loads to get the guys back home. One load got the driver who lives in Bangs home with the load to final out in Early, Texas. The other truck loaded for Ballinger but can't unload until Monday. Still that is better than deadheading 400+ miles.
The guys already have loads waiting for them to begin the next week.
The cash flow situation improved with the arrival of one check. Surprisingly, it wasn't the one I expected. The company that is usually good pay, is lagging behind for some reason. I feel confident all the billing was in order so I don't know what their hold up might be.
I'll take another trip to the Post Office later today.
Later today I have to make the trip to Roscoe to pick up driver envelopes. For some reason regardless of when they get them to me, they expect their checks on Monday!
I visited yesterday with "Coach". I feel like this next week he will probably be making a decision of what he is going to do. I haven't seen it but Pat said after she saw their lake place, "Coach" needs to go into the building business. She said he has quite a gift of seeing something and then making it come to fruition.
While "Coach" resigned his position, he remains employed until July 1 at Brownwood unless he requests a release. Last weekends Bluebonnet relays was his last "hurrah" in his duties though.
I don't know if I am going to be able to handle Chris's excitement over next weekend. He already has his plans made! His Momma said he told her she wouldn't see him from Thursday until the following Monday!
I let a little air out of his balloon yesterday when I told him we wouldn't be leaving until sometime Friday. My six month check up for skin cancer recurrence is scheduled for Friday morning. I am probably more like ten months, but my doctor had heart surgery and is only now resuming his practice. It didn't take him long to regroup. Of course he was thrilled when I told him if he wanted to figure out a way to load his four wheeler, we would take it!
Well, I had better get my day to catching up.
Have a great weekend!
FATHER thank YOU for the restful night, for the productive week. Greater are YOU who is in me, than he who is in the world.
