Sunday morning I got a call from Pat. She thought Krl and I were still in St. Lawrence and she was inviting us to stop over at Memama and Pepa's house for Sunday lunch as we made our way back to Abilene.

She was surprised when I told her we were already in Abilene. "You should drive over anyway", she said. Turns out with Memama's little spell on Thursday, she was still not feeling well on Saturday so Pat had ordered Ma Allen's for lunch. When she ordered it, she did not realize that Freddy's family had all gone to the metroplex to a cousin's wedding. So, they had lots off food coming and very few mouths to dispose of it.

I told her that I would visit with Krl about it. We talked, and initially Krl said she didn't feel well enough to go. She encouraged me to go by myself, and I encouraged her to go with me! In a short while, I heard water running in her bathroom.

I was dressed first, and knowing the Expedition needed fuel I began the Chinese fire drill of repositioning vehicles so we could get the one we wanted back out! (It seemed I had done the reverse of this only last evening!). Once I had an avenue to get to the street, I drove quickly to the Valero fuel stop and spent another $78 filling it up. (I think I did this yesterday too!).

As I was driving to fuel up, I texted Pat saying, "Offr 2good2 pass up, eta 12:30/1".

I returned to the house, picked Krl up, made a brief detour, and we were on our way!

It was well worth the trip! Fried chicken, green beans, squash, potato salad, cream potatoes, rolls, gravy, cobbler, and pecan pie! Um Ummh!

Turns out Pepa's sister, Aunt Joyce, was there along with cousin Donna, Pat and Hag and their boys, Memama and Pepa, and Krl and I. Good food and good company!

As a bonus, there was enough food to take home!

Late yesterday, I nibbled on fried chicken and later for the main course I had potato salad and squash. Delicious!

Krl enjoyed the food too! She made the comment that she might gain some weight if she ate like that everyday. Pepa told me if I would send her over there they would fatten her up! I told him I didn't know about her but it had worked on me!

Krl and I have been trying to develop a plan of action. She has made tremendous strides in the office. The mountain of paperwork is now a mole hill. We are to a point where I need to sit down with her and go through things on and in my desk.

We have lots to do, but I am confident we can get them done.

I visited with Rian and he said Erica had a stomach bug. By the end of the day it sounded like maybe Drew was catching it. It is probably just a matter of time before it circulates through their entire family. Rian said Erica had never been as sick as she was yesterday in all their married years.

I did some recon for K.O. yesterday, so last night I called him with the information. He had a very busy weekend trying to get wheat planted, and trucks and trailers ready for his seasonal work. Actually his primary job began ginning Saturday and is scheduled to run again Monday. He said the one producer who is harvesting is painting a pretty dismal picture of the crop yields.

Yesterday's late season thunderstorms reinforced the theory that you don't make a crop until it is off the stalk. Rain, hail, and high winds could destroy what is out there pretty quickly. I can remember a few years ago we were about a week away from beginning the seasonal work when a storm came through and destroyed a large portion of the crop.

I read this morning that the Europeans are scrambling with their own financial bailout. Oil is dropping, headlines report Americans are beginning to be thrifty. It appears the big ball of yarn is coming unravelled. Some economist are saying what we are seeing is just the tip of a much larger problem.

It is kind of scary.

This past weekend the Zoe conference was held in Nashville. The theme this year was "Fearless". That may be very appropriate considering the times and happenings around us. I am sure it would be an experience to attend one of their weekends, but it always seems I am otherwise committed. FYI the new Zoe CD was released a week or so ago.

On that note, the weekend we were in Wichita Falls, we used Rian's pickup to tool around town. He has a lot of CD's most of them acapella, from various Christian groups. He had one that was a relatively new group that consists of the choir teacher from Rian's School, and the other members attended LCU with Rian. It is an all male group, but they are awesome! For the life of me I can't recall their name! Maybe later.

Well, I've been up three hours. Maybe I can get a nap before morning.

Have a day!

FATHER, we pray for greater faith as this world swirls around us.
