As you might have noticed, I missed blogging yesterday. Technology issues. Actually we had been on line but the e-mail was not working so they tried to fix that and messed up the log-in and on and on and on. Hopefully it is all up and running, so drop us a line.
We still have not started. We have cotton. Final preparations appear to be completed, it is time to see if Bertha is gonna stand up and sing. It is amazing how one of the vendors are hedging their bet. They sold about a half million dollars worth of equipment improvements to the facility, their engineers designed all of it and now they are saying they think it will work. Hello, this has been a year in the making, it's a little late to be thinking it will work. What we had would work, what we hoped to do was improve production and eliminate down time. Engineers should either tend to business or stay on trains. And that's all I am going to say about that.
My Monday truck finally made it here on Tuesday. I sure hope Fred isn't counting on this guy to be one of my people because he is a rocket scientist. He didn't make it Monday because the signal light flasher fell out of the fuse block. Big problem. Then I rode down to the produce shed to unload the forklift and we were on an oil file road and he was grabbing fifth gear. I finally asked him if he was in a hurry and he said "No.". I told him to slow it down. I pointed out where we needed to back up to, and he cruised right on past. Finally I got him to back up and he put the trailer to the dock. Crooked, but to the dock. We quickly unhooked the chains and I hastened my program to get the forklift off the trailer before he decided to leave. Once unloaded, he left to drop the trailer on the yard and I began to make my way the three miles to the plant. I made it two hundred feet and ran out of diesel. Thankfully Krl bailed me out. She picked me up and I hauled five gallons of fuel to the machine and stopped by the fuel stop on my way to the plant. I put fifteen gallons in a twelve gallon tank. When I arrived at the plant some thirty minutes later, the truck driver was still trying to park the trailer. He had not heard a single word I had told him. I finally stood where I wanted the trailer and on the third try he made it and unhooked. He as headed to Roscoe, yet he went west. I ran him down and asked him where he thought he was going. "Roscoe", he replied. "Don't you think you might be going the wrong direction?", I asked. "It is the only way I know, back to Midland and then down I-20", he stated. I quickly told him to turn it around and I gave him brief concise instructions and assured him it would save him fifty or sixty miles. It was a relief when he was out of sight.
As soon as I arrived on site, the forklift was loaned out. The burr contractor was swapping out a spreader bed from an old truck to a new one. He was really disappointed when only one of the forklifts showed up. He needed two.
I have been dickering with little repairs, nothing major. It is more something to keep me busy. I have spent a tremendous amount of time in the farm store, lots of chemical going out the door and you can hear spray planes all day long. When this thing breaks open it is going to be full bore!
Currently I am waiting on seed trucks. The GM had held some seed to sell after the season last year and he didn't sell any. I am sure hoping it isn't set up like cement. The idiot truck driver is coming back along with an old hand. I am thankful they waited until it heated up. (right!).
High here Friday is supposed to be fifty-nine. Low forty-six. I may have to look for long britches.
Be the real deal.
