Busy week so far. Monday flashed by. And that is a good thing. I had a good portion of work to do Tuesday as well. And that is a good thing.

This morning, KO and DO are both out of the office. Dr.'s appointment for the oldest boy. KO has an appointment at 3 pm. in Fort Worth so they should be coming back prior to lunch.

We have equipment scattered from Colorado to the Metroplex, from Lubbock to San Antonio. All but two back hauls are on the board. The San Antonio and the Dallas loads are still trying to be matched up with return loads. I have been on the DAT screen doing load searches and I even found three that came right back to Abilene, but by the time I made contact they had been snatched up. I began trying to circle in, maybe a San Antonio to Fort Worth and then a Fort Worth to Abilene but man is that freight cheap! It might be more better to just pay the fuel and get that particular truck in a more profitable lane.

For the umpteenth day in a row it is raining. Unbelievable. I love the rain. Having grown up in a rural community with a grandfather who farmed, I will never turn it down in West Texas. Precious moisture. Nectar of the gods. I am loving the abbreviated temperatures also. Maybe the utility bills will reflect the good weather we have enjoyed. When I woke this morning I could tell by the hound attendance on my side of the bed that it was going to rain. The floor was covered with wall to wall poodles! What displaced faith they have in my ability to keep them from harm. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy and yet humble at the same time.

I would like to see it get back in the low nineties. Get some heat units going to bring what could be another record crop to completion. How blessed my farming friends and family have been! The Ag economy has been so depressed for so long one good year won't fix much. These guys need several years of good crops to get healthy again.

Krl and I were talking and with the cooler temperatures I am getting in the mood for some stew or chili, maybe taco soup, along with a big cast iron skillet of cornbread! Yum! That has to be the best part of Fall and Winter, the seasonal foods!

Last evening Krl and I did our tag team version of Schezuan chicken/broccoli/ bell pepper and onion with picante/soy sauce on a bed of rice, complete with egg rolls. Krl did the prep. I manned the wok. I still swear that I must have been oriental in a prior life. I am getting where I love rice! If I can master chopsticks I will know for sure. So far the only sticks I have mastered are fish sticks! (Just kidding). I really enjoy working with Krl, even if it is only cooking in the kitchen.

Krl and I find ourselves looking forward to our approaching departure. It seems so strange to be eagerly anticipating being away from home for such an extended period. We are excited. There are still some pieces that have to be tweaked in putting the remainder of the team together for the fall work, but I am confident that the people and equipment will be the best I have had yet. One thing about it, there is no shortage of people wanting to go. I am putting together a plan that could tie this venture up for years and years to come. With a little luck and a little venture capital I could make the boss proud! It'll happen.

Well make it a day. Let's call it Toosday! "Git 'er done!"

FATHER, thank YOU for the blessed day yesterday. I ask for more of the same today. Thank YOU for the tremendous blessing of rain and relief from the harsh temperatures. I thank YOU for blessing my farming family and friends with such tremendous potential and I ask that YOU will help them to be good stewards of YOUR earth. I pray for a bountiful harvest for them.
