Yesterday I was back at the parts store. It seemed as though it was feast or famine. If you had one customer, you had a store full, but when one left they all left.
My schedule is up in the air, depending on where I am needed. It could be parts store or helping Pepa. Yesterday Sylvania had a doctors appointment again and with Chris gone, I went in to help out.
We have been trying to finish up some of the required stuff for the state inspection station. Right now it is down to a little paint and running some CAT 5 cable for the TAVIS unit. Yesterday we completed the purchase of the required gas cap tester (with adaptors) and the required window tint meter.
So we are just a phone call away from getting our district supervisor to come by to complete the station certification.
I am kind of excited to get this up and running, even though everyone doesn't share that excitement. I think we are about a month too late to catch the annual rush for the wheat harvest equipment. Oh well.
Lots of tentatives took place yesterday. Rian and Erica tentatively sold their house, tentatively bought another one, and tentatively leased another. That is a lot of tentatives.
Rian had called me, kind of fizzing. Then by days end all of the pieces had fallen into place and the fizz was gone.
Rian and Erica have had a home purchased in Shallowater, contingent upon selling their home in Lubbock. With Rian's job change, they allowed him 1-year to either move or have a plan in the works. They had found a home they really like, and that fit their budget. The people that owned this home are going to build a new home as soon as Rian and Erica sign a contract to purchase their existing home. Rian and Erica had advertised their home "for sale by owner", and showed it a few times. Last week they got serious and listed it with a realtor. Monday they showed it twice and sold it, although there is a ten day grace period for the purchaser to opt out of the contract.
Rian called me yesterday and he had looked at another house near Shallowater. He said it was a beautiful home, but it was a little more than he was comfortable with. I was impressed with this maturity.
Rian and I have had conversations in the past about instant gratification, wanting what you want when you want it. I look at the progressions that Rian and Erica have gone through and they have done very well. From their initial house in Idalou to their 16th Place home, and now their move to Shallowater.
I know my son and he is not patient! Good job Rian!
Things have been a struggle lately. With Krl's fall, and then her heart problem, and with some driver turn over, at one point we had all of the trucking equipment parked. I sure did sleep good, but on the other hand, income suffered. We do have four customers who owe a considerable sum but it is apparent we may have to enlist the help of professionals to collect this.
I had been hoping, but not really expecting a small windfall. Everyday I would quickly open the mail box, only to be disappointed. Until yesterday.
Thank YOU LORD!
I needed one of those kind of things!
We did not hear from the seasonal work nor did I hear from the banker working on the recent equipment acquisition.
I may need to borrow some of Rian's patience!
I am getting to the point where I don't really care. I figure things are unfolding the way they are intended.
One interesting development yesterday, for the first time in about 20 years there will be a truck and tractor pull at the West Texas Fair. It will be a TTTPA sanctioned show using the X-factor sled out of Missouri. I will be announcing, provided I am not out of the country. It will take place Saturday night September 11th. This is a one day show this year, as Fair officials are wanting to gauge the draw. So if you are a pulling fan and if you attend the fair, make plans on attending the 11th of September. (It will be a night session).
Well, my bud DMS is in New Mexico this week. She and her husband took six grandkids for their annual July 4th trip. They are at the dreamhome her mother built to retire to. While her Mom only enjoyed four years living there, her dream now is part of not only her daughters life, but also extending to what would be great grandchildren of the dreamer! Pretty neat! And it came with a bear!
We usually exchange several text messages a day, but this week it has been very quiet on incoming messages, so I am hoping they are having a great time!
I am constantly in awe of the little redhead that lives with us. I don't know how she knows, but she knows when I get up to make a bathroom run during the night, and she knows when I am getting up for the night. She can tell the difference!
In fact she may know me better than I know me.
Have a day!
FATHER, thank YOU for the windfall blessing yesterday. You continue to meet our every need! I continue to lift Rebecca for YOUR gifts, bless her and those taking care of her. I pray for patience and for YOUR perfect peace. Amazing grace!
