My Saturday was spent adjusting, and waiting for an end to our trucking week.
Krl took three loads from a vendor we had used in the past, but have been reluctant to use again because they are thirty day pay, plus some. You have to really stay on them. You know the old adage, the squeaking wheel gets the grease.
Realize, I am not blaming Krl. All of our regular lanes were unavailable. No loads.
The worst part was the trucks all had Saturday off loads. That is good for the driver pay, but makes it virtually impossible to load anything on the weekend. So either your driver have to deadhead home or they are hung out for the weekend.
Krl got calls from the two drivers who off loaded in Emory, early in the day. Finally, the third truck called telling us that there was no one to unload him at his destination. He had spent two hours walking through warehouses, and finally a worker told him. Those guys who receive incoming loads don't work the weekend.
The vendor had assured Krl the company changed their receiving policy and we could unload on Saturday. As it turns out, that particular driver had to drive 70 miles home and then drive seventy miles back Monday morning. I told Krl it was time for this vendor to come across.
Krl and the lady who own this company are "friendly". Her name is Nedia. I told Krl friends don't spoof friends like Nedia did, so she can pay for her mistake.
It would have been bad enough if it was just a problem with off loading. I had an appointment for the truck at a shop mid morning Saturday, and another shop for Monday morning. Now the entire schedule is screwed up.
I had told Krl not to get a Monday load for the truck, so she got a Tuesday load. Even that may be in jeopardy. I am trying to put together "an alternative".
While I was out and about yesterday, I stopped in United. Krl had told me they had some good buys on meat. Boneless country style pork ribs were on for .99. The had briskets, both packer trimmed and market trimmed, on sale. It isn't good for me to go to the meat market when I have barbecue on my taste buds! The final stop was at the Boars Head deli where I bought some peppered ham.
Although I bought Hawaiian bread for sandwiches. Krl and I decided grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and chicken and rice soup would feel good on her belly. I did three grilled ham and american cheese sandwiches, and just on a whim and an experiment, I did one grilled ham and swiss cheese. All of the "wiches" were made with the peppered ham.
While the experiment was O.K., I prefer the American cheese.
I don't know what Krl decided, but I know she was talking about Trc and the girls coming over for barbecue either today or tomorrow. We'll have to see. If we are going to do brisket, I need to get it on.
If any of you see Brntly out there, run over him. He has not been home in months, and has not contributed anything to mortgage, utilities and or groceries for Trc and the girls. He has been selling off assets, and I have tried to convince Trc that she needs to be proactive, not reactive. From my perspective, what Brntly has done is desertion. I have told Trc that she could get temporary alimony and child support if she would file for a legal separation. It would also make him accountable for any assets, to the court. Luckily she has copies of all his 1099's the court would need to determine child support and temporary alimony.
In a bizarre occurrence, Rian had a call from his Step Dad yesterday. It seems Rian's Mother and Step Dad had been in Slaton collecting rent and doing some mowing at a property they own. the had traveled on to Lubbock and wanted to see the boys. During the conversation, Rian's Step Dad said he had good news, the oncologist has decided he doesn't have bladder cancer, he may just have a severe infection that could take a month to treat.
Also, the church bulletin from RCoC reported Tyler wakened from his coma on last Monday and Tuesday they did surgery to put the piece of skull they had removed, back.
Well, that is all from this roving reporter. Have a day.
FATHER, thank you for weekends. Thank YOU for the good reports. Rest us well, rest us quickly. We pray for our upcoming week.
