Well, I studied my eye lids a little too long, so this will be quick.
Memama's second surgery went very well. The doctor who did it is the "teaching" doctor there at University. He said basically all he did was clean things up and try to deaden some joint pain. He did not re-do any of the pins or wiring and he thinks when the swelling goes down, things are going to look even better. Maybe no skin grafts! He is going to release her when she is ready. His big concern is in ten days or so, the ligaments and tendons will begin to shorten. He said she will have to do diligent therapy to keep her hand flexible, otherwise she could end up with a "paddle" hand.
My biggest concern is that the doctor told Pat when he sends her home, he will be sending NO pain medication. He said it will be Tylenol, Aleeve, Ibuprofen, or Advil. I can tell you one thing, this doctor has never had a hand injury. His argument is that he doesn't want the medication to mask the pain. (Duh?).
But, Pat says Memama could be home in a day or two. Any future procedures will probably be done on an out patient basis. She will be traveling to and from Lubbock on a regular basis.
All I got to say is Pepa had better get his apron on.
I got to go catch my day!
Have one!
FATHER, thank YOU for the good report on Memama. I continue to lift her up for YOUR gifts of healing. FATHER I pray for my day. YOU are good.
