We survived the weekend!

Krl and I left Abilene before lunch on Friday after we loaded the SUV and the travel trailer in a steady downpour of rain!

By two o'clock we had the trailer unhooked, level and connected to the water and electricity utilities and we headed to town to get a bite of lunch and buy supplies! After stops at Underwood's (it wasn't quite as good as I remembered), Wal-Mart, and Kroger's, we arrived back at the motel/RV park about five-thirty. Already a steady stream of relatives had flowed in.

Reunion weather Friday was excellent. Mild temperature and a constant breeze! High humidity however made it somewhat uncomfortable for a fat boy from West Texas.

This reunion was looked forward to in some ways, but dreaded in others. There were very noticeable voids left by Freddy and Terri's absence. Thankfully, ALL of their families were present, so it did help, knowing their legacy continues on.

I don't guess any event was more difficult than the family church service Sunday morning or the announcements and business meeting that followed. I think it was difficult for nearly all of us.

Sunday afternoon we moved the festivities from Mountain View to Robbie and Jesse's Lake place for a catered noon meal followed by homemade ice cream! The kids enjoyed a final session of swimming and jumping off the top of the boat house before the group began to disperse in forty different directions.

Krl and I weren't the first to leave. I would guess it was near four o'clock in the afternoon when we went back to get the RV. Thankfully we didn't have a very long drive home. By six thirty, we were unhooked and unloaded and the SUV was in the garage!

We were decompressing, and just trying to relax and let the houndgirls reclaim us! We did argue about who smelled worse, Krl or me! I guess Krl did because she bathed first. We ended up eating a simple sandwich before watching a little tele while rocking the little hounds before we went to bed!

It was good to be home.

I needed to take today off just to rest up from my four day weekend!

FATHER, YOU know my needs!
