What a week! High highs and low lows! Thank GOD there were more of the highs! I know that the lows are reality tests when I try to do it alone! I love the day in my little day planner that says when you feel it necessary to roll up your sleeves and get busy working your way out of something, to "seize" the opportunity to surrender! Give it all to GOD. This has sure has been working for me! Thank you FATHER!
My nephew Kyle spent the night with Krl and I Friday night. He is really a pretty neat kid! You get used to not having any children in the house except the occasional grand kids (and all of visiting age are female) so it was a change to have a teenage boy back in the house! It has been since 1995 when Rian graduated and moved out that we had our last male regular resident. Krl had prepared a big supper and it took Kyle forever to eat. It wasn't that he didn't like it but he just eats so slow. We arrived home late, cleaned up and then had a very very late meal. Krl finally went to bed and after 11 pm. I told Kyle we had to get some rest because the alarm was going off at 5 am. I was surprised when I knocked on his door the following morning that he was so easy to awaken. We had a pretty good day. Each time Kyle works with me I try to stretch him a little farther. If it were up to him he would not choose to expand or learn, just find that simple niche, very little responsibility and cruise under the radar. I didn't give him any big job he isn't capable of but menial tasks that are good training. He is pretty smooth in that he can ask you to show him one more time until the task is complete so finally I just walked away and told him no help, no matter how long it takes. Once I told him this, he did it. The boy is smarter than he wants to let on! I am thankful that he feels so comfortable at our home and at my work that he asks to stay here and help work. One of my co-workers tells me that when I get old and I am living in a nursing home my own children may not visit me but Kyle will!
Kyle's brother Chris came home from college Thursday. His mother called him and told him to have everything packed and ready to load at 8 am. Thursday. Chris assured her he would have everything packed and ready! When she arrived she found that he was no longer living on the ground floor but four floors up, one hundred stair steps! When she walked in his room he had one suitcase packed! He hadn't even started breaking down his computer or anything else, and reports had it that his Mom thought it would take half day just for them just to find the floor! I don't know how his Mom does it but she moves mountains on a regular basis! There is something about most Mom's having that ability. They completed the move home, and in time for her next obligation! I expect it will take the better part of the summer for their house to finally agree on who is in charge!
Church was good this morning. It was Senior Sunday today. The graduating seniors were honored and they had the privilege of planning the entire worship service. The began it with a young man named Steven Moore singing "A New Anointing" and he finished the service singing "Take the Lord with You". It was very powerful. I found myself wondering how tremendous it would be for him to be the worship leader some Sunday! He sure gives it his all. Often times the first few minutes of the service can set the tone for the entire service. Today is was upbeat and filled.
I think I have about three more weeks on this contract I am working on! My tail is dragging but the compensation is appreciated! I like to eat! It kind of feels like I am going through boot camp (by my own choosing)! I just hope these old muscles and bones and joints can stand up to the challenge! I know that teamed with GOD and his blessing "Bertha" with "angel wings" we will get the job done! FATHER we have much to do together in the coming week! Thank you FATHER.
