Wow!

I was blissfully snoozing the night away when all the sudden I became aware of an intruder in our bed!

Black Dog!

Which means it is fixing to storm.

If you didn't wake, that was quite a display nature put on. Lots of lightning and rumbling thunder. Thankfully it didn't have the loud crackling thunder which seems to upset our hounds in the house.

Sometimes I am in awe of the power and the beauty that nature possesses. Last night was gorgeous. It made me think about the open shutter lightning photos that a couple of former acquaintances use to do during West Texas storms. I'm not sure if some of J.B. Cooper's photos still hang in the gin office at Roscoe or not, but there were some good ones!

If our neighborhood had overhead electric lines I would have sworn that they were arc-ing between each other. Another possibility would have been that a welding shop had moved into the neighborhood.

I think the weather caught our local weathermen by surprise as it was a good half hour after the storm came through before I saw the first one give a live warning.

Lots of observances on Memorial Day. I would say probably the most somber sight I have ever seen is Arlington National Cemetery. Row after row after row of graves. They seem to go on forever. For some reason a television shot doesn't convey the vastness of the cemetery.

Well, we have to pay for our day off! Isn't that the way it always is! At the old family business I got where I would argue with myself whether a day off was worth it!

Have a day! Hope yours is a good one!

FATHER. Help!
