Some days a guy or gal just need to pull the covers over their head and hide out.
Yesterday was one of those days.
I left early, trying to get an early start on what I hoped was going to be a productive day. When I told Krl and the houndgirls 'bye, they were all snoozing. Three were on the bed with her. It seems my real estate is very prime in this area and when I get up there is a mad scramble! Krl told me to call her in thirty minutes to be sure she was awake. She and some friends have started a bible study and yesterday was the first day. Actually, I think it is a reason to get together and eat! (Just kidding! But they did have some food. Krl had prepared breakfast burritos, they had fresh fruit, and two different coffee cakes.). Anyhow, I have had questions how this small group will mesh but Krl said it went well. One friend is from down our street and is about Krl's age. The other member is much younger and has recently moved to the area from Colorado. The younger member's husband did the painting for Trc on her project at our home and Krl met "the painter's wife" when she stopped by his work one day. Krl and her immediately hit it off and they have gotten together every week. Lately they had discussed the Bible study possibility, and it was a natural evolution.
When I called Krl to make sure she was awake she told me when she got up to let the houndgirls out, the door knob came off in her hand. I was in hopes that it was just left loose from the project but Krl assured me it wasn't. Why does something like this happen when company is coming over? And they were planning on meeting on the patio! Oh well.
Just a few minutes before Krl's friends were supposed to arrive I cruised by in BS 22 to pick up a tire check I had forgotten. I had made my early morning contact and things didn't look good. Carlos was having a bout with kidney stones or possibly some bladder problem and he was in some pain. He told me the ride from Sweetwater to Abilene was almost more than he could bear. He wasn't optimistic about getting any loads loaded and told me to do whatever else I had to do. I made a phone call and spent the rest of the morning at the tire shop. BS 22 has all new shoes! And since that has happened she hasn't had a load. Typical. I just keep reminiscing about how things began slowly in 2004 and then it wore our butts out towards the end.
My Friday began slowly. I really didn't want to get out of bed. Krl and I had been up until between eleven and midnight last night and my butt was dragging. When I did roll out of bed I did an abbreviated morning and went out the door almost an hour late. When I was walking out a long black Lexus was pulling to the curb in front of the house. They sat for a minute and I began to back out, they went on down the street. I hurried to the intersection but by the time I got there they had disappeared. Not in sight in any direction. Spooky! I made the block and then one block over and never found the car, so I went on. I decided to go through McDonald's drive through and as I was sitting in line, the Lexus crept past again. The windows were so dark I couldn't see who was inside. When I pulled out, they had disappeared again. I remained on my toes but never saw them again. It will sure make you wonder!
When I made the morning circle, my intuition proved to be correct. No loads. I couldn't find Carlos so I went on to Bible hardware to shop for some repair parts and then went on to the truck yard to work on the teal truck grill. I was able to get all my inserts positioned and then I pulled out the secret weapon. Gorilla glue. I left the inserts drying and later today or tomorrow I will go try to complete this project. That will leave the trailer charge valve and the rear cross member to be removed and replace, and checking out the cruise control and this truck should be good to go until it's drive tires arrive, then I would like to have it aligned. It likes to dart a little when you are going down the road. BS 2 needs one bolt in the bumper, a little repair on the electric brake controller, and a cosmetic plate put behind the drivers seat and it will be good to go.
So I am back at the house. I am fixing to get Krl's zodiac pool vacuum and take it to the pool shop. I am thinking the diaphram is just old and brittle and not allowing it to function. The pool man thinks the problem is something else. If I were a betting man I was say he will try to sell me a new one. NNNnnnnnnnnno!
One bit of good news is that the compress is not working tomorrow. I hope to sit back and watch Indy qualifying at some part and then finish me day watching the NASCAR all star race at Charlotte.
Git 'er done!
Be the real deal!
FATHER, use me.
