And the wind generator companies smiled!

Yesterday was evidence of West Texas' largest resource, wind. I don't know about where you were, but out here it was bad! The morning had started with just a slight breeze, enough to cause us to hope that forecasters were wrong, but after lunch it changed directions and turned up the velocity! You could barely see across the compound. Sand, cotton, trash! I tried to limit my outside activities and at one point I ended up in the RV. Krl was much like a seasoned veteran as the trailer would rock back and forth, shuddering from the gail force winds, and the trailer is on stabilizers! I finally sat on the couch with black dog and we finished a reading a book.

Late in the day I stood at the kitchen window watching as the powerful winds began to lose strength and it was at this time I began to think about how the hurricane, tsunami, and mud slide victims must have felt. Helpless. That is the only word I can come up with. I have lived through my home flooding (twice), I have experienced fire (twice). I know how men will do crazy things trying to preserve and protect possessions. I can only imagine the speed, the magnitude, the fear that these residents experienced. No time to gather prized pictures or heirlooms, the salvage list must have become short quickly. Preserve life, your family, your own. Flee. Wind, water, mud, gaining, destroying, consuming. Sheer force!

I think how my concerns, my priorities, pale in comparison. I am ashamed. I am selfish, self centered.

FATHER, I ask YOUR forgiveness when I focus inward and not outward. I ask YOUR forgiveness when I become petty and small. Help me to become more compassionate, more concerned, for all those around. FATHER, YOU are majestic, YOUR nature is powerful. I know YOU hurt when we hurt, YOU are all seeing, all knowing. I pray for all the victims of the recent disasters. I pray for the relief workers and their efforts. I lift up Hag, Lillie, Rene', Carol, Michelle, Aimee, Rusty and Kim's unborn baby, and Jennifer, for YOUR gift of healing. I pray for spiritual healing for me, for R2D2, for all those in need. I pray for our spiritual family, our leaders, and their efforts to spread Jesus. I stand in awe of YOU.
