What a tremendous day yesterday turned out to be! Going with the flow paid great rewards! I was "on call" but received word early on that I would not be going in to work. Krl and I had a slow day and didn't get out of the house until about 4pm. We went to early vote in city and school elections (this appears to be a high impact year in our community) then we ran a few errands using up some time before we planned to go to our second oldest grandaughter, Ellen's youth league softball game (Ellen is 11). We had planned to pick up Addie (the youngest grandaughter) and take her so she could spend time with her cousin, Kat (Ellen's baby sister). Addie and Kat are five, nine days separates their births and they so love and care for one another. We arrived at the game way early so we had to deal with twenty questions about why Kat was not there and where Kat might be. Finally Kat arrived along with her mom, Trace and the big sister Lauren (the grand patriarch grandaughter at 15). Ellen had come a little earlier with a friend but had her "game face on" and was tending to business. We didn't know which to watch, the ball game (which saw TNT struggle until the final inning before pulling out a come from behind win, yea!) or the two youngest grandaughters play. What an evening of fun and snow cones finally being topped off by Trace and the girls wanting to take Mom (or Meme) out for dinner to celebrate her birthday and I got to go along! Remarkably the restaurant went well, no spills, just dropped utensils (by the patriarch grandchild), good food, good company and hearty laughs. We finally got Addie home between 9:30 and 10 pm. so she might be grounded for staying out so late on a school night. Oh well, we have a whole year to get ungrounded!
The only thing that could have improved an almost perfect day would have been for the remaining grandchild, Reid (our only grandson to date) to attend, he is nine months old and lives three hours away! Its days like this that refresh your knowledge that GOD is good, and to quote our two youngest grandaughters, "can we do it again". To have began a day with such apprehension and dread and give to give it back to GOD to mold it and form it into something so special! That is my hope for this day! It's yours Father!
